አምባ ሐዋዝ

Amba Hawaz is a citadel founded by a few young begena players who had a strong desire to connect the past, present, and future generations of the tradition of the begena. It all began by searching for the lost and forgotten players and collecting the heritage of the instrument.

Gradually, however, a new generation of begena players whose hearts were zealously burning with love for the story of the past began to gather. Hearing these stories together, listening to their lost and forgotten songs, playing their songs in various churches and memorials, and visiting their remaining families became a part of their lives.

In the meantime, realizing that our foremothers and forefathers were forgotten, and that the current and the future generations needed a citadel that would help facilitate their journey so as to be remembered, AmBa Hawaz was established.
